Texas Conservation Connection is excited to announce that we’ve successfully listed and sold Deep Woods Preserve, a conservation property in Grimes County. Found along a tributary of Beason Creek within the Spring Creek and Lower Brazos Watersheds, Deep Woods Preserve is a unique, diverse ecological area and now, thanks to the utilization of a conservation easement, its ample natural resources will now be protected.

Some of those resources include:

Native hardwood savannas

Mixed pine hardwood upland forests

Mesic transitional forests

Native wildflower and grass prairies on gently rolling hills

A 0.61 acre freshwater pond providing habitat for numerous amphibian species, and resident, migratory, and wintering bird species.

In recognition of this property’s value in terms of wildlife habitat and water quality enhancement, Bayou Land Conservancy intends to keep the property intact, and in its natural state in perpetuity. The conservation easement will protect the property from development and fragmentation, keeping the flora and fauna communities of this highly diverse habitat safe. We are proud to have played a part in the sale of the property to an organization that is so dedicated to its preservation!
